Umbrella Plant (Cyperus Alternifolius)

Umbrella plant takes its common name from its attractive clusters of slender grass-like leaves that look like an umbrella. The perennial plant can grow upto 3 to 5 feet if it has plenty of water. It grows well in marshy land and shady places. The stem is long, cylindrical and hollow, contains fiber which has been used to make rope and other decorative items. It is commonly used as a houseplant.
