Lokta (Daphne Papyracea)

The word Lokta known as Baruwa and Kaagate Paat in Nepali, means small woody plant. The plant, especially the fibrous inner bark called baste, is popularly used as a raw material for production of Lokpa paper, which is also known as Nepali Kagaj (Nepali Paper). Lokta paper is considered as one of the best quality papers because it is long lasting and durable, it folds without any crinkles or corrugstion, and it is highly resistant to insects and germs.
