Hemp (Cannabis sativa L)

Hemp is a annual, flowering plant with hairy stems and leaves that are long- stalked with green, tiny flowers. This plant is popular for three main product white bast fiber from its stem, oil from its seeds and narcotic from its leaves. In Nepal, it is especially found in the districts of the central, western and far western, though the best quality is in the mild humid climate of the hilly region. Currently in Nepal, the farming of hemp is illegal, however hemp entrepreneurs are lobbying the government in order to grow industrial grade hemp, which contains insignificant levels of the th intoxicating substances.
